Sculpting Light into Living Art

Photo-shoot day at Arte LUMIS. Today I’m capturing two of my sculptural light pieces using a technique called light painting — a long-exposure method normally done in total darkness. But because my lamps create their own glow, true darkness would completely blow out the image. So I shoot with the garage door light barely on, lamps dimmed to the minimum, and a 20-second shutter. Each exposure becomes a dance around the sculpture, tracing light along the curves to reveal every contour of the wood. No filters, no compositing — just wood, light, and time. This is how I try to honor the material and show the sculpture exactly as it exists in the real world. Natural. Honest. Glowing from within.
