Arte LUMIS is an independent light art studio based in Central Texas, focused on one-of-a-kind sculptural works shaped from reclaimed wood.
Each piece is developed through direct engagement with the material rather than predetermined design, allowing form, void, and light to emerge through the process. The work is handcrafted in limited quantities and cannot be replicated.
Arte LUMIS produces sculptural light works designed for architectural and residential interiors where material presence and restraint matter.
About Arte LUMIS
Process & Philosophy
The work at Arte LUMIS begins with the material. Each piece of wood is selected for its structure, grain, and natural tension, and no form is imposed before the material is fully understood.
Cuts are made in response to what is revealed rather than to a fixed design, allowing the final form to emerge through reduction rather than construction. This approach results in objects that retain the irregularities and constraints of their source material.
Light is introduced only after the form has resolved. It is treated as a spatial element rather than a decorative feature, integrated to clarify volume, depth, and void without overpowering the material itself.
The Artist
Arte LUMIS is led by Stefan Dragitsch, a light artist working at the intersection of sculptural form and reclaimed wood. Born in Bucharest and raised in Munich, his background reflects a European design sensibility now applied within a Central Texas context.
His practice focuses on working with entire logs and large wood cross-sections, allowing the inherent structure of each piece to guide form and light. Materials are sourced locally through municipal wood reclamation programs and developed into one-of-a-kind works.
Dragitsch works independently from his studio in Round Rock, Texas, maintaining full authorship over each piece from initial cuts through final light integration.
