Golden Spire
Sculptural light work carved from Central Texas cedar.
Work Description
Golden Spire is hand-carved from a single Central Texas cedar log, defined by a narrow vertical aperture that reveals the wood’s inner structure. The form emphasizes upward movement through proportion and contour rather than ornament, allowing the cedar’s natural grain and tonal variation to remain visually dominant.
Light is introduced from above and directed downward through the central channel, activating warm amber tones and highlighting the cedar’s swirling grain. Subtle transitions between smooth, refined surfaces and natural texture reinforce the material’s character while maintaining a composed, architectural presence and highlighting its natural voids.
Anchored by a brushed stainless-steel base, Golden Spire stands slender and resolved—grounded in material clarity and defined by restraint, verticality, and internal illumination.
Each Arte LUMIS piece is one-of-a-kind.

Golden Spire was developed by maintaining a narrow vertical profile and minimizing material removal outside the central aperture. Surface refinement focused on preserving grain continuity, natural voids and tonal warmth while achieving a controlled satin finish. Light was integrated only after the form resolved, introduced from above to articulate depth and vertical flow without overpowering the cedar’s natural texture.
